Pollution Levels In The River Nile
Pollution Levels In The River Nile River Nile is the most important rivers. It passes through many countries. It has historical, economic, agricultural important for these countries. In the last period, the River Nile pollution exposure to many pollutants. I will talk in this report about the importance of the River Nile and River, Nile pollution and damage to these pollutants. Finally I will mention the solutions. Nile River: The Nile is a major river in Africa .It the longest river in the world. The total length of the river is 6650 km (4132 miles). Nile Basin covers an area of 3.4 million km à ². Nile Basin countries are Uganda, Ethiopia , Sudan and DRC. Also Burundi , Tanzania , Rwanda , Kenya, Egypt and Eritrea. The Nile has two major tributaries, White and Blue Nile. The river flows through desert almost, from Sudan into Egypt. Egypt civilization has depended on the river since ancient times. Most of the population and cities of Egypt lie along Nile river .Most the historical and cultural sites of Egypt are found along the Nile river. The Nile ends in a large delta and it is go into the Mediterranean Sea. Important of Nile River: Nile Basin constitutes has unique diversified geographically, starting from the highlands in the south and at least freshly hit even up to the spacious plains in the far north. Therefore, the Nile River is the only river which flows from south to north due to the tendency of the earth. Nile is of great importance in the economies of the Nile Basin, in the field of agriculture : in all countries of the Nile Basin water farmers depends on nile water as resources to irrigate their crops. Among the most famous of these crops: cotton, wheat, sugarcane, dates, legumes, and citrus fruits. In fishing, many type of fish abundance in Nile water. fish are favorite dishes of many of the peoples in these countries. the Nile River has many aquaculture animals such as Nile crocodile, which presence in most of the path of the Nile. In the field of tourism in Egypt and Sudan are based upon a type of tourism, Nile Tourism , in both Egypt and Sudan, many ship carrying tourists and visitors to the country each of Qena, Luxor and Aswan, Egypt, and between two mountains, the third and fourth in the north of Sudan, between the Juba and Kochi. Causes of Nile pollution The River Nile is exposed to many types of pollutants from the waste characteristics and makes it invalid to use for drinking and irrigation, which is detrimental to humans and animals. Nile river pollution mean there is a change in physical properties, chemical properties or biological properties of water. *Biological waste: Biological waste mean is the present of organisms with visible or invisible eye that cause pollution in water such as: bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa, animal and there are phases of minutes (eggs, larvae stages). Some of these organisms are seen bye naked eye, such as some algae and aquatic plants, and others organism can not be seen by naked eye (only with a microscope), such as bacteria, fungi and protozoa. The degree of proliferation of these organisms depends on the nature and size of these organisms. *Organic pollution Organic pollution is a waste of plant and animal which contain chemically into seven groups of substances, namely: 1. Soluble substances in the water, including Algelokoseidat, sugars , amino acids , salts, nitrates, sulfates, chlorides and potassium salts. 2 soluble substances in the ether, including alcohol, include fats, oils and waxes. 3. Alselliozat. 4 .Alheimciliozat. 5. Alganinat. 6. proteins. 7. Minerals that do not dissolve in water including potassium magnesium. *Toxic metals pollution The number of chemical elements are manufactured that more than (1500) type. Many heavy metals are found in industrial .They have bad effects to humans and organisms .For example: Mercury: It is come from waste generated through electrolysis in the manufacture of sodium hydroxide and chlorine gas. It was found that the microbiologist turned inorganic mercury into methylmercury, which binds with the protein strain found in the body by a group (-SH), which exist, and this leads to focus on the food chain. Cadmium Cd It is one of the most dangerous pollutants of comparison .It inhibits the activity of enzymes containing a group replace zinc in some enzymes containing it. Lead pb It is an inhibitor of the functions of many enzymes Symptoms of lead poisoning: Colic, and anemia, headaches, convulsions, and renal colic. Arsenic: As It is enter in many industries, such as: the pesticide industry. Like the rest of the other heavy metals and their compounds, it has a detrimental effect and toxic on living organisms, when concentrations of it up to a certain extent. We see the harmful effect of heavy metals in drainage water, which led to the pollution of crops. *Residues, animal waste and garbage: It is peoples ignorance of the fact of the Nile River and that the source of water .They got rid of the bodies of dead farm animals , disposal of waste and garbage dead birds and infected by bird flu ,and throw them in the river. Long time ago, the Nile flood before the establishment of the High Dam, the constant motion of water and volatile help to out expulsion of contaminants. Effect of Nile Pollution: *Biological waste: Waste waters are carrying many of the microbes especially bacteria. These microbes cause water pollution. The contamination of the water leads to pollute fish, molluscs, crustaceans and others aquatic animals. The contaminated water may lead to poisoning or killing human. The most important disease-causing bacteria: The contaminated water may lead to poisoning or killing of human beings is the most important disease-causing bacteria: Salmonella: It is a type of bacteria causes typhoid . The most important parasites that pollute the water are Ascaris worms and schistosomes . One of the main viruses that found in water pollution is hepatitis virus, which leads to infection of larvae (yellow). *Organic pollution: $ Lead to a lack of Oxgen. That are effecting to organism that live in water. $ Increasing number of microbes significantly in the Availability of organic materials and that is lead to serious damage. $ Anaerobic conditions lead to the formation of toxic compounds affect the growth of Plants. $ Spread of weeds , nematodes, fungal bacterial diseases. *Toxic metals pollution Mercury: Toxicity of inorganic compounds of mercury lead to Nervous Disorder . Injury element mercury leads headache, chills and inflammation of the bladder, memory loss. Organic mercury compounds, especially methylmercury, it is more toxic because of the easy to go in porous membranes. It is concentrated in the blood and affects the mind and central system, the witness here, Minamatas disaster in Japan in 1952, which died in which more than (52) people. The reason for that was the people of this village ate fish in their food, which contained concentrations of mercury compound (CH3.HgS.CH3). Cadmium Cd, Lead pb They inhibit the activity of enzymes in the body of living organisms. Arsenic: As It has a detrimental effect and toxic on living organisms. *Residues, animal waste and garbage: The spread of diseases between humans and animals who depend on drinking water of the Nile. Solutions: ÃËà ¥ÃËà ¸Ãâ¢Ã¢â¬ ¡ÃËÃËà ± ÃËÃâ¢Ã¢â¬Å¾ÃËà ªÃËà Ãâ¢Ãâ Ãâ¢Ã

ÃËÃ © 1 . Work necessary precautions to prevent the leakage of sewage to the waters of the Nile. 2. Emphasis on not throw factory waste in the river, whether liquid or solid in the river. 3. Prohibition and criminalization of dead animals in the River Nile. 4. Do not throw waste solids and plastic in the River Nile. 5. Spread health awareness among the farmer. 6 Spreading awareness among farmers to not wash tools and equipment for spraying pesticides in the waters of River Nile water (irrigation). 7. Take all measures towards the implementation of law to protect of waterways, especially rivers. 8. Built centers measurements fixed the waterways, to control pollution that occurs on them. 9. The need to do special place for the sewage and assembled away from the Nile. 10. Control the pollution which leads to acid rain, which polluted the Nile. 11. Prevent use of water (the Nile and other) to clean the animals and laundered. 12. Dont do wrong practices such as some people on the banks of the Nile, such as washing dishes and clothes. Conclusion Water is very important element we need to live and it is part of our lives. Nile River is impotent source for water. Many reasons cause water pollution. These will destroy the water we drink and will destroy our lives. To prevent Nile water pollution the government should provide strict penalties for people or factories who try to pollute the water. Benevolent Assimilation: The American Conquest of the Philippines, 1899
Benevolent Assimilation: The American Conquest of the Philippines, 1899-1903 Miller provides an account of the American-Philippines war from 1899-1903, revealing aspects of United States imperialism that are often forgotten. Miller provides both a military history as well as a demonstration of the way America lied and forgot its history, justifying war and colonization as a step for greater good. America's involvement in the Philippines is sometimes remembered as an act to protect Filipino's from Spain, and to "teach' them American democracy. Other historians look to the war as a part of American imperialism linked to its capitalist and racist nature. Many other historians argue that imperialism was a short lived mistake in American history that was just one stumble in the country's greatness. Miller's account shows, in great detail, the slipperiness of events which happened, and the ways in which individuals can hold the power of nations. Generally America's conquest of the Philippines is understood to be motivated by the expansion of democracy. The Unit ed States was already actively expanding and conquering land and people, but for the most part they were doing so in regions thought to be geographically logical. Expanding to the west was not considered colonization, but once the U.S. reached the far away islands of the Philippines, their actions seemed to need a larger explanation to be justified. The United States moving beyond its natural proximity made the Philippines a more problematic site, and therefore easier to understand as an act of imperialism. Miller argues that when the United States was just beginning to get involved in the Philippines few people new anything about the islands. There were no intention... ...d Beveridge, the anti-imperialists were letting the people off the hook and in their own way preserving the American sense of innocenceâ⬠¦If anything, they seemed to take their cues from their leader in the White House by first putting out of mind all the sordid episodes in the conquest, and then forgetting the entire war itself (253). The United States conquest of the Philippines and the ways it is remembered is one aspect of this countries history of imperialism. This war stems out of energy left from the Civil War, the United States competition with Spain, and later feeds into the Vietnam War. This story is all too reflective of the current situation in Iraq and the war on terrorism. According to Miller, the United States hides its imperialism behind the name of democracy and civilization, claiming to act for the better of people "unable" to govern themselves.

Isolation in The Great Gatsby Essay
Hundreds of people are gathered around dancing, drinking, and having a good time. People are causally talking and laughing. Men and women from all around are having the ââ¬Å"time of their life. â⬠However, the lifestyle of the city, money, and connections donââ¬â¢t always create fulfilled, happy lives. For Daisy Buchanan, Nick Carraway, and Jay Gatsby, they are never alone but always isolated. Daisy Buchanan uses her need for attention and people to adore her most likely to cover up her fear of isolation. From the beginning Daisy has virtually been alone. Her husband Tom was not even there for the birth of their only daughter. Well, she was less than an hour old and Tom was God knows where. I woke up out of the ether with an utterly abandoned feelingâ⬠¦ â⬠(21). She was very isolated from Tom at that point of time in their marriage. This stems her fear of being alone leads to the suspicion of Tom and Myrtleââ¬â¢s affair. She doesnââ¬â¢t have the strength to step away from Tomââ¬â¢s money or her fear and confront him though. She uses attention to cope with his affair. For example, she kisses Gatsby in her own husbandââ¬â¢s house. She needs to know that someone will give and receive her attention. She lets her fear of isolation run her life. Nick Carraway is the one of the most isolated characters in The Great Gatsby. He once said that, ââ¬Å"At the enchanted metropolitan twilight I felt a haunting loneliness â⬠¦ sometimes (61-62). â⬠Through this quote Nick expresses his overwhelming loneliness of city life. He is originally from the Midwest and doesnââ¬â¢t know many people in West or East Egg. He feels alone in the ââ¬Å"crowdâ⬠especially at Gatsbyââ¬â¢s famous parties when ââ¬Å"introductions (are) forgotten on the spotâ⬠(44) and enthusiastic meeting occur between people who donââ¬â¢t even know each otherââ¬â¢s names. Nick also feels alone when he realizes he had turned thirty already. He fears growing old because he sees isolation within old age. He sees the people around him and notices that no one is truly happy and as they age life doesnââ¬â¢t get any better. Jay Gatsbyââ¬â¢s death confirmed his fears of isolation. Gatsby was the most well known man in West Egg and hundreds of well known, famous people showed up at his parties every night, yet ââ¬Å"Nobody cameâ⬠(143) to his funeral. Nick was just an average person just trying to work his way up to the American dream. If no one came to say goodbye to Jay Gatsby after his death, what was in store for him when he died. This mphasized his fear of growing older and being isolated. Jay Gatsby seemed like he was on top of the world from the outside looking in. He was extremely wealthy and had hundreds of people at his house at all times; however, on the inside he was just like everyone else, lonely. The love of his life married a different man when he went off to war. He had never gotten over her and always longed for her to come back to him. He isolated himself from everything that didnââ¬â¢t have to do with her. He made his money, bought his house, and threw his parties in hopes to impress and get her back into his arms. He was still in need of company though. He asked Nick Carraway to go to Coney Island in his car late one night. Then, when Nick said it was too late, Gatsby asked if heââ¬â¢d like to go swimming. Nick turned down his offer yet again. Gatsby had all the toys, money, and people in the world to interact with yet he was still lonely because he had isolated himself so much from the outside world. Even into his death, Gatsby didnââ¬â¢t have anyone but a few people at his funeral. He had isolated himself so much; he never made any true relationships. Throughout The Great Gatsby, Daisy, Nick, and Jay suffer from the fear or isolation of the outside world. The dream life of knowing people, being wealthy and living in the city with the upper class is as glamorous as it seemed to be for these characters. They are always around people, but always alone. Itââ¬â¢ll show you how Iââ¬â¢ve gotten to feel about ââ¬â things. Well, she was less than an hour old and Tom was God knows where. I woke up out of the ether with an utterly abandoned feeling, and asked the nurse right away if it was a boy or a girl. She told me it was a girl, and so I turned my head away and wept. ââ¬ËAll right,ââ¬â¢ I said, ââ¬ËIââ¬â¢m glad itââ¬â¢s a girl.

Aeroflot essays
Aeroflot essays When discussing the airline to take when traveling to Russia, the name Aeroflot would always be the first choice. But with the break up of the former Soviet Union, Aeroflot found themselves on the brink of decreasing profit from rival companies. The adjustment from super monopoly in its market to falling far behind private Russian airline Transaero placed them in a search for market share. Aeroflot was stuck in a jam looking for the right mix to bring them back to the front line of Russian air transportation. Aeroflot's attempt to become a world-class airline has been hampered by a poor safety record, bad food, surly service, dilapidated cabins and frequently canceled or late flights. This did not hurt them when they where the only airline in its market, but when competition comes in, things begin to change. It is known that competition can only help the customers as this forces both companies to continue to improve to gain market share. Another problem with Aeroflot is that paid customers had occupied only 60% of their seats on flights. The next step for Aeroflot was to research and develop which marketing mix would help bring them back to an international airline. With some major problems involving customer service and overall product service to the consumers, Aeroflot searched for the right way to bring back their name to the market. The image the airline has selected for itself in its advertising campaign attempts to convince skeptical consumers that the airline has solved its safety and service problems. The campaign uses magazine, billboard and TV commercials, and features a flying elephant with a slogan that translates into "light on its feet." The not so subtle message means that if elephants can fly, so can Aeroflot (aeroflot.org). The meaning behind that advertising campaign using the elephant as the company symbol showed that something big like an airplane could fly freely in the sky. Lig...

Business Management - UK based Vodafone group Essay
Business Management - UK based Vodafone group - Essay Example In this essay, I have attempted to examine the Japanese cellular market and have tried to analyze Vodafone's performance in that market. Japan is the most competitive and developed market for cellular accessories and services. According to the '2006 Telecom, Mobile and Broadband market overview', Asia has been ranked as the largest regional internet market.(www.researchandmarkets.com).It is noteworthy that among the Asian nations, Japan is the regional as well as the global telecommunications leader. Empirical evidence asserts that internet penetration in the nation is high and it boasts of one of the most sophisticated broadband infrastructures in the world. Furthermore, it has been established that the mobile device is the most common and preferred medium for internet access.DoCoMo, the Japanese cellular giant is at the cutting edge and far ahead of America in offering total interoperability inside Japan. Another feature of this market is that the mobile content industry is very promising. Mobile phone content includes ringtones, standby displays, movies, games, weather reports and news. In the global scenario, Japa n occupies a strategic position in the mobile content market, even though Europe is a developed market by all standards. The telecom landscape in Japan is dominated by NTT's DoCoMo and KDDI.Other operators include Vodafone and Tu-Ka.Some companies are working towards entering the 3G market, this is likely to intensify competiton.According to Japan's Telecommunications Carriers Association, the number of mobile phone subscribers reached 100.22 million as of 31st January 2007.(www.itfacts.biz).Therefore, Japan is at the forefront of the development of a ubiquitous network society. Besides this, the opportunities for 3G services are abundant. The key providers for this service are KDDI with 19.8 million 3G subscribers trailed by DoCoMo with a 17.6 million-subscriber base. Vodafone claimed 4.8% of the 3G market as of 2005 end. Vodafone's strategic management performance: Business week online (March 2006) had reported, 'Vodafone may beat a hasty retreat from Japan. Five disappointing years after plunging into the Japanese market with a $13.8 billion acquisition of mobile operator J-phone, Vodafone is in takeover talks with Softbank, the Tokyo based internet, broadband and telecom service provider.' The article further points out that, 'over the last few years the British giant has been losing ground. Its market share hovers around 16.7%.Vodafone's troubles in Japan were mostly self-inflicted. It had slashed the budget for network upgrades, delayed the rollout of 3G handsets and tried to make do with global handsets of other markets rather than customizing its lineup for the finicky tech savvy Japanese consumers' Therefore the biggest cellular corporation in the world was struggling in the Japanese market. Following is an examination of some of the managerial policies, which could have hindered its success in Japan. Underperformance of the company could also be because of cultural conflicts. David Jones, CEO of the company tried to introduce the European working standards. Clashes between members affected the company's

Module 4,5,& 7 Strategic Management Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1
Module 4,5,& 7 Strategic Management - Essay Example Geographically, U.S. entertainment / gaming spread is limited, basically, to Las Vegas, Illinois, Mississippi, New Jersey, and Atlantic City. City councils, reluctant to provide development properties and licenses to casinos / hotels, constitute a major drawback for entertainment / gaming industryââ¬â¢s expansion plans. Expanding abroad is one strategy entertainment / gaming major players resort to in order to make up for slowing returns inside and to avoid prolonged licensing procedures. Further, given heavy investments in real estate developments, a typical entertainment industry strategy for growth (Ross, Keeffe, & Middlebrook, 2006), market expansion based on property development is both an opportunity during booms and a threat during recessions and economic down turns (Stein, 2009). Given no public mission statement exists for Mandalay Resort Group, Mandalayââ¬â¢s vision should build upon companyââ¬â¢s foundersââ¬â¢ conception of fun, play, and entertainment. Future actions by Mandalay should center on insights possibly translated into following set of goals and objectives: 1. Expanding on concept of ââ¬Å"entertainmentâ⬠such as to, on one hand, approach ââ¬Å"gamingâ⬠players (e.g. Nintendo) whose main target (teens, young adults, and family) borders on Mandalayââ¬â¢s (e.g. themed parks, play areas, and ââ¬Å"low rollerâ⬠clients) and to move away from wrong-doing characterization associated with gaming and gambling industry upon entering markets (e.g. Middle East) whose local cultures regard gaming ââ¬â and enjoyment of it ââ¬â as sinful, on another. 3. Investing wise in real estate developments especially in local market (i.e. U.S.) in which gains achieved during booms cannot be guaranteed at sustainable levels during recessions and downturns ââ¬â let alone negative public image impressions of a luxurious facility / development, working great as fun and entertainment destinations during booms, but questioned as extravagancies and spoils during hard
